Grant Funnies and back to blogging (maybe)...

Okay, so I know it has been forever. We've been a bit busy with life. But i do miss blogging--it is a great outlet for things I need to say, and I know the grandparents would love to see photos of the kids, so here goes!

Just had to start by recording this conversation i had with Grant a few days ago. We were reading in the Book of Mormon, Jacob 2:18 But abefore ye seek for briches, seek ye for the ckingdom of God...

M: So that means that we need to keep the commandments and follow Jesus' example first, right?
G: Or we could just stay home and still be Christopher.
M: ...um, do you mean Christian?
G: oh yeah, that.

(p.s. my kids have struggled lately asking about their friends who don't go to church. they somehow thought that if they didn't go to church that they were bad people or didn't believe in Jesus. So we've had several conversations lately about how there are good people who believe in Christ in EVERY church and who don't even go to church who still are Christian. Some of my best friends are not of my faith and are amazing examples to me of living a Christian life and truly following Him. So, I guess i still have a bit of explaining to do with Grant before he gets it. But I did laugh the rest of the day about this one :)

Too much togetherness...

Yesterday was the last day of summer break, so in honor of the occasion I told the kids they could take the day off--no piano practicing or big jobs. Hurrah! I thought it was a great idea until they decided to fill their spare time with non-stop fighting. Maybe they were just trying to get me excited to send them back to school...
So I told Shayla and Ty that they had lost all priviledges (i.e. no football practice for Ty or gymnastics or friends for Shayla) until they wrote a letter to each other. They had to apologize and then tell each other 5 things they liked about each other. So...here are the letters. As you can see they did EXACTLY what was asked, no more, but still it did help them turn things around and be a LITTLE nicer to each other.

We did eventually make it on a bike ride (adventurous to say the least) to play at the park.
And Ty was able to go to football practice, so it wasn't all bad. Miya loves wearing Ty's pads around.

Garrett: Mom, did you know that the tongue is the strongest muscle?
Me: Really? I didn't know that...
Garrett: But...probably not for sumo wrestlers. Those guys are HUGE!

kid funnies

Hello, neglected blog. Sometimes I wonder why I have a blog, just so I can feel guilty about not posting most likely :)

Just had to record a few of the funny things being said around here lately.

Grant: I know what "shoo fly" means.

Mom: Really, what does it mean?

Grant: It means you take a shoe and you squish a fly with it.

Garrett was talking about talents he has and said, "pretty much everything is a talent."

Shayla thought that was ridiculous and said, "Yeah, right, Garrett. My nose isn't a talent!"

Garrett shot back, "Well if you could wiggle it it would be."

One of the best things about having young kids is the constant free entertainment. Who needs TV? But if you need more of a laugh, check out this. Tyler and I went to see Brian Regan in Minneapolis lately and laughed so hard our faces hurt.
Hope to post more soon!
