Catching up

It has been a busy couple of months with our busy birthday season and winter sports (basketball).
We don't get much snow here in Seoul (it usually melts the day we get it) so the kids take advantage of it when it does snow and play quick before it is gone. Kalia loved catching the flakes on her gloves and tongue.

Shayla turned 13 and had her favorite dessert--donuts. I think that is some shadow puppet art going on on the side.

I love that we have a home that is good for entertaining! This was a baby shower for Sandra and Laura that Kristina and I hosted. Lots of fun!
Perfecting the art of making kimbap (kim means seaweed, and bap means rice). It is a favorite Korean picnic food. Tyler is the kimbap artist!

Grant is in the center of this photo with the giant duck-bill hat covering his face :)
For the 3rd grade devotional they did a play where they acted out the "duck walks up to a lemonade stand" skit and Grant got to be the duck. So cute to see him waddling with a line of kid-ducklings behind him! He did such a great job.
This is the best view of his face I could get the whole play :)

Garrett got to do a curiousity research project and chose to find out who had the best football team of all time. He compared stats from best teams over the years, and found that the 1962 Packers team was the best of all time! Go Pack Go!

At Ty's winter sports banquet. Basketball was a great learning experience for him this year. He had  a lot of fun and worked really hard.

Garrett turned 11! Can't believe he will start middle school in the fall.

Dessert, I mean crepes, for breakfast

We finally tried Korean pizza--this one had french fries and mayo on it. Actually it wasn't as bad as it sounds.
My favorite was the sweet chili shrimp and bacon pizza. Delish!

Birthday tie--thanks Grandma!

Some of the pheasants that roam our neighborhood decided to have breakfast on our fence.
Ty and McKay have the same birthday, and Garrett is just 1 week before, so we had a fun birthday celebration together.

Ty is now 15! Sausage bread for breakfast.

Sweet-socks!
Celebrating with mint brownies and ice cream.
Trying to take a posed candid shot--how did I do?

Garrett's birthday party. It was supposed to be a football party but it poured all day. We ended up retreating to Commiskeys for air hockey, ping pong and foosball.

Finishing up with pizza, gatorade and rootbeer floats.

Transporting to Commiskey's. Thankfully it is just around the corner and all of the awesome boy energy and enthusiasm could be released playing games there instead of in our home :)

Happy Birthday, Garrett!
Shayla got to play basketball for the FOBISIA (federation of british international schools in asia) basketball team since one of the british schools dropped out. They let the middle school form a team and Shayla's teacher volunteered her. It was out of her comfort zone, but she did great. She had a lot of fun missing a day of school and playing against teams from China, Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand. They lost 1 and won 4.
Taking a bow after their last game. Shayla is the 5th from the right.
Miya read a poem at her class poetry reading. It was so cute--she wrote a poem about poems. Brilliant!

Sisters
This is a cool statue by Kristina's apartment. It shows Confucius, Buddha, Jesus Christ and the Koran side by side, as a symbol of all religious people uniting in what they have in common and working together for world peace and harmony. I love that. It makes me think of Moroni 10:6 "And whatsoever thing is good is just and true; wherefore, nothing that is good denieth the Christ, but acknowledgeth that he is." No matter what someone believes in, if it leads them to do good, then eventually it will lead them to Christ.
Here is the explanation of the statue.

Eva and Miya are kindred spirits. Yesterday they both wore the same dress to church :)
Here they are bowling buddies.
Can you tell who was having a bad bowling day?
Emi loves to bowl with us :)
Taking a tour of the Gyeongbokgung Palace on a cold day

Garrett playing basketball--he was moving so fast I couldn't get a decent picture. And blogger wouldn't upload the pics of Grant. They both had a great basketball season.

Fun times--Uncle Curt pushing the kids on the awesome swing down by the Han River.
